Course Description of COM 694 Communication and Media Research Methodology

This course deals with the theoretical and applied aspects of scientific research methods in different media fields, reviews different models of media research to introduce the student to the scientific method, thinking, objective conclusion and how to deal with available sources, as well as focusing on the methods and research tools used in media studies such as content analysis of media message and survey studies.

Course Description of COM 621 Media Legislation and Ethics

This course deals with the study of media systems and media legislation, in terms of the rights and duties of media, as well as the ethics of media and its relationship with the public, and aims to enhance the student's knowledge about irregularities and prohibitions that may occur in media, in addition to studying the ethical framework of media and discussing the charters of media honor at the local and international levels.

Course Description of COM 630 Foundations of Digital Media

This course deals with the emergence and development of digital media industry through historical reading of these means, critical analysis of technical innovations, the social and ethical constraints that frame them, exposing digital media to objective criticism, giving the student an artistic and technical background to deal with media and developing student's ability to critically analyze digital media.

Course Description of COM624 Media Readings in English Language

This course focuses on enhancing the student's information in the media field, by informing the student about studies, media materials and academic research in foreign languages, and enriching the student knowledge of latest research and media studies. It gives the student the ability to research, learn and benefit from foreign studies and research in the media field

Course Description of COM 600 Communication and Media Theories

This course focuses on new media technologies that have produced a range of creative innovations, including new media-related computer programs, digital websites, social networking sites, e-books, and virtual interactive maps. This course also deals with studying contemporary theories in new media, analyzing their contents and knowing their developments, with an emphasis on thinking about the methodological issues in those theories. This course also aims to help the student understand the culture of new media and interact with its data and developments.

Course Description of COM 623 Statistics in Media Studies

This course seeks to provide the student with the necessary knowledge to understand descriptive statistics and hypothesis testing, information necessary to understand and apply some tests on more than one variable, use of computers in the application of some statistical tests, in addition to training the student in statistical methods and identifying their objectives and limits, and address the main functions of statistics in research, such as descriptive statistics and logical statistics. In this course, the student learns about applied and training models for statistics and how to use its application programs.

Course Description of COM 626 Management of Media Institution

This course highlights the most prominent trends and management schools and its applications in media institutions, as well as the management stages process in the media context and in public relations departments, focusing on planning, research, distribution of resources, developing strategic plans and evaluating administrative performance, while discussing some study situations in different societies.

Course Description of COM 622 Communication and Media Economics

This course introduces the student to the economics of media and communication, by highlighting the role of media institutions and financial functions within them, how to finance media operations, of all kinds, and giving the student a background about the media institution from an economic perspective, and the economic organizations and structures that make up the media institutions.

Course Description of COM 627 Media Campaigns

This course provides a comprehensive scientific background to the elements of the administration with a focus on planning as a basis for the success of media campaigns by providing practical models for international and media campaigns. The aim of the course also to introduce the student to the concept of management and its elements, and the foundations of media campaigns, and to study the importance of planning and its benefits and obstacles, types and steps, stages and mechanisms for the implementation and follow-up of media campaigns, and evaluate them through the study of application models. In addition to giving the student the ability to carry out media campaigns.

Course Description of COM 628 Social Media Networks

This course focuses on introducing students to the most important social networks and their sources of power and impact, with a focus on the aspect of their media influences. The course also aims to give students the practical ability to use the tools of these networks and how to use filters to understand networks and deal with the news and information they provide, as well as to build and develop the student's skills in dialogue and discussion.
